I recently removed the pull from Twitter on my blog. Because they have been down so much and because that widget is not AJAX-ified, it was causing my blog page to fail to load.  Interesting consequence of using services in the cloud and making me remember that everything has to be asynch and decoupled these days...

I had the same problem, but I decided to write my own custom control to cache and store my twitter updates. This means I'm not leaning too hard on twitter.com and it also means if/when they go down, I can still display my latest Twitter updates, even if my blog app restarts and/or the cache is cleared.
